The Independent Politician: Christmas Is The Most Celebrated Pro-Life Holiday There Is

Christmas is a wonderful time of year. The concept itself is one that anyone, of any religion, can adapt into their lives whether or not they believe in its religious origins or the pagan version. Peace, joy, love, spending time with your friends and families while giving gifts is a great thing for all. But let’s not forget that Christmas exists because a baby was born. Which makes Christmas the most celebrated pro-life holiday on the planet.

There tends to be a group of grinches who poke their heads up every year to malign the institution of Christmas. It used to be that saying “Merry Christmas” as a greeting or goodbye at this time of year was a warm and embracing thing to do. But now it is touted as divisive and non-inclusive so that people will say “Happy Holidays” as a more “politically correct” phrase. In 2022, the grinches are even grouchier as they screech “Merry Crisis” on social media.

But I digress…

There is another group of people who have an objection to Christmas in general, at least they should: the pro-abortion crowd. More and more, their crusade to kill the unborn grows in ferocity and fanaticism. From Jane’s Revenge attacking pregnancy centers, committing arson attacks,  and threats of school shootings to terrorist group Antifa disrupting pro-life prayers, threatening to “burn it down”, and more. The anger and violence continues to escalate.

Yet these same people are probably happy to get the time off from work because of Christmas. Happy to accept gifts, eat food, and be merry. But tend to forget or ignore that this holiday exists because a baby was born.

Born at a time when it was exceptionally hard for an unmarried woman who was pregnant.

Think about it.

When the angel told Mary that she was going to conceive and bear a son she must have been scared even if it was only for a second (Luke 1:26-28). After all, this was during a time when a woman’s virginity and chastity was valued most because it also increased the probability that any child born by her would belong to the husband. Thus ensuring paternity as much as possible.

Yet, what would have happened to her if Joseph hadn’t carried through with their marriage? She would have been ostracized from society. Her chances of finding another man to marry her would have been almost nil. That is, if Joseph had not been such a good man.

In fact, Joseph had planned to not make it a public spectacle and decided to keep things private so as not to bring shame upon himself or Mary. Even so, it took an angel of the Lord to convince him that Mary was truly a virgin carrying the child of God and that he should still marry her and help raise the child (Matthew 1:20).

From there, we know the rest. At his birth the angels sang while three Wisemen visited him in the manger to give him their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. He went on to become a man, raised by his mother and father, who changed the entire world.

So it is the birth of Jesus that we celebrate for what he came to do. And it is a reminder of how a newborn is the center of infinite possibilities and infinite promises. That they could be the next big mover and shaker. To be a new Michelangelo, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington Carver, Louis Pasteur, Florence Nightingale, CS Lewis, JRR Tolkien, Thomas Sowell, Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, Sir Isaac Newton, Nikola Tesla, Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan, or an Aristotle. You get the picture.

So many possibilities and futures wrapped up in a tiny package.

Yet, they are being extinguished before even realizing their potential. Before even leaving the womb. All because there is a movement in this country where a significant amount of women and men don’t want to accept the results of their actions. That looks at abortion as just another form of birth control and not for a legitimate reason such as rape or when the physical wellbeing of the mother is in jeopardy (95% of abortions in Florida are elective or for social/economic reasons). Who try to lessen the horrific actions they are taking by calling the unborn a clump of cells, a fetus, or even a parasite among other terms. Just so that they can try to justify what it is they are doing.

Meanwhile, men are still forced by law to take care of a child whether they want to be responsible or not (if you don’t pay, in jail you shall stay). Which is as it should be because that is the consequence of not practicing safe sex. Yet, for women, there were no measures and they no longer have to take accountability or responsibility and neither do they look at it as an immoral decision and action to take. Now, they revel in having an abortion and are even gleeful. Rather than offer the child up for adoption, their immediate thought is to kill it. They even look at abortion as a sacrifice they are willing to make in order to have the life they wanted or wish to pursue.

“Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me…” Matthew 19:14

It is these same pro-abortion men and women who are across the table from you; smiling, laughing, and getting gifts on a day that celebrates the birth of a child while they celebrate the death of their own. A horrific thing to think about for those who are pro-life, but these people don’t care. They have no qualms about benefiting from this holiday.

Imagine if Mary had been born in this modern world and was like these modern women? Chances are high that she would have just aborted the baby and mankind would have been doomed for all of eternity. Even if an angel were to still come down and tell her what her child would become.

That is the state of this modern society.

So as you celebrate with your friends and family, have a moment of silence for all those who were not given the chance to be born to celebrate with us. Mourn that they never knew the love of a mother or father. Mourn the loss of all that potential while pitying the ones who aborted them. Then think on what, during the next year, you can do to mitigate or even stop the snuffing out of a life before it has had the chance to live. Think of solutions to silence the pro-abortionists’ reasons for killing the unborn. So that, God willing, we don’t have to resort to the killing of these gifts that we as humans are on this earth to create.
