The Kingdom of Ankist is a place of adventure, battle, and intrigue that players will soon have the opportunity to lead as the head of the council in The King’s Dilemma: Chronicles. Set to launch on January 30th for PC, with console versions possible at a later date, The King’s Dilemma: Chronicles offers players hundreds of dilemmas and tough choices that will affect their relationships with the other houses in the kingdom, as well as the kingdom’s resources and history.
As the leader of the King’s inner circle, players will be able to choose whether to listen to the advice of their Council of Houses or overrule their decisions. The game features over 300 story-driven dilemmas in the Kingdom of Ankist and neighboring kingdoms, and players will be able to choose from branching narrative paths and six intertwined storylines.
Players will also have the opportunity to use influence or corruption to overturn the decisions of the Council and make and break alliances. They will be able to invest in research, technology, and buildings to prepare for the final battle, and play across generations, choosing their heir and their personality and goals. Players will also be able to explore multiple endings across many playthroughs, each lasting 3 to 4 hours.
The game is set in a fictional fantasy world that the developer Big Trouble Game Studio, describes as being often cruel and designed to put players in front of morally challenging situations and tough choices. Many of the dilemmas in the game involve ethical and moral choices related to sensitive topics that could upset players, and the developers want to caution that some of the content might be distressing.
It appears that the potential distress that players might be able to influence or cause has led to Big Trouble Game Studio making this disclaimer on the game’s Steam Page:
“However, the publisher, designers, scriptwriters, and distributors of the game do not in any way promote, encourage, or consider the atrocities described in the game to be acceptable.”
The King’s Dilemma: Chronicles is set to release January 30, 2023 for the Steam platform.
