Polish developer Superstatic and Anshar Publishing has announced that its deck-builder roguelite Liberté’ will be released May 23rd on Steam.
Set during the French Revolution, Liberté will offer players the chance to play as René, a civilian caught up in a large-scale bid for power between the four most powerful factions in Paris. Players will collect cards, nurture alliances, and discover the truth behind the cryptic invader from another dimension, Lady Bliss.
Talking about the game’s impending release Superstatic Narrative Designer Kajetan Wyrzykowski said,
“It’s so exciting to finally be able to give gamers a release date for Liberté later this month. We think players are going to find both the Parisian setting, and the easy to understand but difficult to master Card system enthralling from day one, and we can’t wait to see them lead René to victory.”
The game will feature over 100 skills and talents cards to choose from, allowing players to build their own unique playstyle while unlocking new skills and passives. Players can choose to go guns blazing, cut their way out with blades and axes, hit enemies with a guitar, or even sing revolutionary songs (anyone singing “Do You Hear The People Sing” from Les Miserables). In addition, players can use a skin-shifter ability to play as one of three other characters, including master hunter Victor, the tribal warrior Flea, or the revolt leader Ana.
Players will also have to unravel the mystery behind Lady Bliss, which is guarded by all-mighty Eldritches, who will send players on a secret mission to help reveal the truth behind her actions. The game will immerse players in over 40 hours of dialogue inspired by the real events, characters, and architecture of the French Revolution.
Liberté will hit Steam on May 23rd, 2023, will cost $19.99, and will require a 2.2 GHz processor or better, 8 GB or more of RAM, Nvidia Geforce 960/RX 570 or better graphics, and 4 GB or more of disk space.
