Video game publisher Paradox Interactive and developer Nimble Giant Entertainment, in collaboration with Paramount Consumer Products, have unveiled their latest grand strategy game, Star Trek: Infinite. Based on the beloved sci-fi franchise, Star Trek: Infinite is set a few decades before Star Trek: The Next Generation.
In Star Trek: Infinite, players will assume the role of a fleet commander, overseeing one of four major powers in the galaxy: the United Federation of Planets, Romulan Star Empire, Cardassian Union, or Klingon Empire. Each faction will come with its own unique traits, stories, quests, and gameplay mechanics to provide every playthrough with a distinct experience as they try to navigate diplomatic relations and interstellar conflicts.
Paradox Interactive CEO Fredrik Wester expressed his excitement about the project stating,
“It is an honor to bring one of entertainment’s most iconic properties to life for our players and Star Trek’s multigenerational fanbase. We know how much this franchise means to fans all over the world, and we are working closely with Nimble Giant and Paramount Consumer Products to create a faithful and fulfilling game that lives up to their expectations.”
Star Trek fans may be hopeful that Nimble Giant Entertainment’s Star Trek: Infinite will be a spiritual successor to Star Trek: Birth of the Federation but that remains to be seen.
Star Trek: Infinite is set to release on PC and macOS fall 2023.
