Knightly Musings – Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Desperate to Win Oppression Olympics in Lieu of Emmy

The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards are on the horizon and I’m sure Faulkien fans are dying to see Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power making it on the list for anything. However, true Tolkien fans, and people with taste, know that there really isn’t anything that the series should be nominated for except for maybe the CGI visuals and musical score. However, it seems that the show’s creators are aware of their slim chances as Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power may not win an Emmy but is definitely trying to win the Oppression Olympics.

Recently, The Rings of Power has been running the “Tolkien fans are racist” story again for the shill media who love to run with these stories since, unsurprisingly, they are great clickbait farms. Not to mention that the demonization of established fandoms is the short-term success strategy for the woke media, woke Hollywood, woke content creators, and the woke “fans.”

Just like they did leading up to the release of The Rings of Power, and during its release while legit criticism was leveled against the show, Sophia Nomvete (Disa) and Ismael Cruz Córdova (Arondir) have once again been making the rounds accusing Tolkien fans of racism and threats. Yet neither have offered examples of direct messages, email, or social media comments of these death threats and racist remarks. Nomvete has claimed that she, “…was statistically the most attacked cast member…” For Córdova, the actor claims that the racist backlash was so bad that the cast and crew were provided with an on-set therapist.

Yet, both the actor and actress certainly talked a big game about being black and being part of the cast, breaking boundaries, forging new paths, etc ad nauseum. That they knew what they were doing when they accepted the roles and that they were ready to fight for it. And kept going on and on and on about it.

Tolkien fans who know Elven history knows that there is no way for black elves to exist unless they mate with another race that has dark skin

If that weren’t enough, then you have Owain Arthur, who plays Durin IV, chiming in about critics of the show stating,

“I mean, it is infuriating. Like, you go: ‘Oh, God, really? Are we still there as a human race?’ That drives me wild… The guys have been through a lot — to be on the receiving end of things — and I hope one day, we will, as a human race, just be one.”

“I mean, it sounds kind of maybe pathetic or dramatic what I’m saying here, but, genuinely, just stop racism.”

The majority of people are against racism. There is no question about that. But how easily the word is slung around at people just wishing that adaptations be faithful to the source is mind-boggling. Especially weaponized at critics all in a pathetic attempt to save their jobs and keep making that money. Which is why Amazon and people behind The Rings of Power are using this ploy.

It is out of desperation.

Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is atrocious. Not just as an adaptation of Tolkien’s beloved world, but as a fantasy series in general. The writing is sloppy, inconsistent, and pathetically pretentious. The characters lack personality, charisma, proper backstory or buildup, and, in some cases, are unbelievably unlikeable such as Galadriel.

That is why only 37 percent of viewers even bothered to watch the entire show. It’s annoying enough that The Rings of Power forced diversity into parts of Tolkien’s world where there is none. The main example being that of Arondir, a black Elf. Tolkien fans, or anyone who knows the lore, is aware that he can’t exist. Could a black Elf exist in Tolkien’s world? Sure. If the show was set after the events of The Lord of the Rings and the fall of Sauron.

But, according to Amazon, to even suggest such a thing is being racist.

So Amazon’s The Lord the Rings: The Rings of Power is participating in the Oppression Olympics as much as possible in order to get themselves back into the public eye for the sole reason to secure some pity votes for, if they are lucky, a few pity Emmy nominations.

The worst part about the show crying and screaming “RACISM” is that they don’t point out the people doing it. That there are no names of people being exposed for being racist. Why is that? Why aren’t such vile people being exposed? After all, I guarantee the Tolkien community would cancel those people quickly.

So why not name or point out these people that are saying racist things or making threats? The obvious reason could be that they are under investigation and so the crewmembers, actors, and actresses can’t reveal any information. But, as far as I’m aware, no one has said anything on the point. More likely, the people doing this are troll accounts, people of no consequence, and are so infrequent that it isn’t worth bothering about.

What is interesting to hear is that they, and others from the show, claim that the backlash was so bad that there had to be a therapist on the Rings of Power’s set at all times for the cast and crew. Given how they all acted, is it really about racism? Or is it more about the fact that the cast and crew of The Rings of Power are unable to handle the criticism and derision aimed at the show?

As always, when criticism is directed at them, Hollywood resorts to the demonization of the fandoms which threatens their bottom line. But always forget that it is the fans that bring in the residual dollars long after an intellectual property is forgotten by the general audience.

I predicted that Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power would be the most expensive lesson in bad writing after watching only the first few episodes. But even I didn’t think it would reach such levels to the point that this show will be mocked and reviled by Tolkien fans in perpetuity. A show so bad and disingenuous, which has created a Faulkien fanbase which are a group of deplorable unlikables filled with vitriol and targeting anyone who dares to criticize The Rings of Power. Who gleefully wield terms such as racist, sexist, etc in a desperate attempt to shut people up because they have no other way to make excuses for a show that they like.

Meanwhile, we get to see real examples of racism. Just look at what Magic: The Gathering’s owner Wizards of the Coast is doing to JRR Tolkien’s world. If that isn’t blatant racism, I don’t know what is.

So yeah, the Oppression Olympics is in full swing at Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power so they can hopefully get an emmy.

Good luck!!

[…] How unsurprising. No nominations for writing or acting despite Faulkiens saying that the show is awesome.  […]
