Welcome to SeanDKnight’s Blog

They say that “third time’s the charm” so here I am starting another blogging website except this time it is an official Sean D Knight blog. As in, it has my name in the URL! Why did it take so long for me to do this? Well, money and time for starters. Recent changes in my life has afforded me the ability to spend a little money on a website that I hope will grow over time. So welcome to Sean D Knight’s Blog where I will be talking about PC gaming, console gaming, movies, TV, literature, and even politics

Essentially, anything that interests me and that I might have something to say about.

Which is a lot these days for those of you who have noticed the various topics in the navigation bar of this site. Don’t worry, though! Give me some time and I’ll start populating those areas with all sorts of goodies: some old blog posts that no longer exist on the internet and mostly new stuff to prove that I have grown as a writer.

I think…

At least, I hope my writing has continued to improve since I first started blogging back in the early 2000’s. Otherwise, the people who used to pay me for writing news articles, game reviews, and editorials didn’t know what they were doing. But that can be another post for another time.

I don’t really want to make this an introductory post and go over my blogging history or work as a freelance writer, podcast host, and YouTuber. It’s a funny thing, though. The reason why I started blogging over a decade ago was to improve my writing and to get faster at doing it. But I didn’t expect to make new friends, write about topics that people would take me seriously about, and eventually get paid for writing. But if you want to know more about all of that stuff right away, you can check out my LinkedIn page (though it is wildly outdated now) or the “About” page of this website.

Now you shouldn’t be surprised to read this, but I have a number of my goals for this site. First and foremost, it is to establish a routine where I will be posting at least a few times a week. I would prefer to post daily, but that will depend on my current job and how much time I have each day to devote to writing. Or whether my hands will allow that without being too painful. Currently, I am working as a floor installer and that kind of job has taken quite a toll on my hands. Yet again, another topic for some other time.

Second, I want to continue to become a better writer. And to do that, I want to go back to writing news articles and op-eds, come up with new series( such as my Food for Gaming, Giving a Face to the Voice, or The Captain’s Chair), fan fics (if I can make the time), and even talk about my journey to become an author ( I am currently trying to get back to finishing my first novel which I started talking about in the Knight Writer Podcast).

Third, I want to expand my reach when it comes to my opinions and thoughts regarding the video game industry, the literary world, and even politics. Though that last topic has me nervous since, up until recently, there were three things I never talked about: Religion, Politics, and Myself. However, my stance has changed since, when it comes to religion and politics, the current climate is irrationally divisive to an insane degree. So much so, that I feel that I can’t stay quiet anymore lest I be asked by future generations where I was when things went to hell in a handbasket.

Fourth, by wanting to speak my mind, I want to create an environment of fun, thoughtful, and mature discussion. To create a community that reflects those three traits. It is what I missed about my old blogging days when IGN used to support bloggers by offering us a free platform. I can’t offer a blogging platform for everyone, but I hope I can offer an environment to talk about current events with each other.

Lastly, it is a dream of mine to do this as a full-time job. Of course, I would want to do this without having to sell my soul or make compromises to my beliefs and opinions. I especially want to be able to do this without becoming a click-bait, shock-jock journalist which is what all areas of the media have become (at least when it comes to the mainstream media and some of the content creator community). I would also want to be paid to have my work featured on other websites, though still be owned by me. When it comes to my work, having all the work I did for MaximumPC disappear once the site went down, really hammered in me the desire to own and preserve my own work.

But one step at a time. For now, I’ll settle for being able to blog on a regular basis once more.

I hope you will join me on this journey and enjoy the content that I will produce.

So welcome to my blog!

And pardon our appearance as we continue to work on the website and add more content!
