The recent attempt by Stargate fans, creators, and actors to provide awareness that there is still a demand for new shows was an inspiration to see. Participating in trending #WeWantStargate was awesome, especially seeing how many people I follow on Twitter were Stargate fans themselves. It’s fanbase and their efforts, such as this, is what made the Star Trek movies possible. We all want to see a new series. But it got me wondering about what kind of series? After all, there are so many possibilities. So in the wake of #WeWantStargate I want to pitch my idea for a new Stargate series.
Series Name – Stargate Command: SG-1
No, this isn’t a reboot of the original show. It’s a passing on of the torch that takes place shortly after Stargate: Continuum and revolves around SG1 retiring under unusual circumstances and a new generation training to take their place. The new SG1 team would consist mostly of young men and women who are descendants of the original members who had, on their last mission, been stranded on a planet for 25 years.
However, in order to follow in their parents’ footsteps, this new generation will have to prove that they have what it takes to become the new SG1.
The characters would be Amanda O’Neill, age 23 and daughter of Brigadier General Jack O’Neill and Colonel Samantha Carter. Chris (Christine) Jackson, age 24 and daughter of Dr Daniel Jackson and Vala Mal Doran. Ben (Benjamin) Mitchell, age 22 and son of Colonel Cameron Mitchell and Dr Carolyn Lam. Jackie (Jacqueline) O’Neill, second child of Jack and Sam who is only 17. Aside from Jackie, the rest of the kids are old enough to have been in the program for years had they been raised on Earth. But since they were raised on another planet they still have to go through a training program, even though their parents and the Ancient outpost provided them with a good education.
Their time spent training to be an official part of Stargate Command also means they will become familiar with their parents’ home and life. In addition, because of their time on another planet under the tutelage of SG1, part of their training will include going with other SG teams for some field experience. This sets up many opportunities for them to meet and learn from many characters from other Stargate series. But they will also be training with other SGC recruits who will be vying for the coveted position of being assigned to an SG unit. This means there will be animosity from many of the recruits towards the “SG1 Wonderkids.”
They will have to prove to Stargate Command, and themselves, that they have what it takes to replace their parents and become the new SG1.
But as this new generation of recruits train to replace those that paved the way, a new enemy is rising that will threaten the galaxy. One that not even the Ancients could have foreseen or dealt with.

So there is a lot more I could say, but I wanted to try and keep the pitch as brief as possible. While I have some experience pitching an idea for an article or editorial, pitching a TV series is a lot more difficult. At least to me! But to quickly add on to the pitch, I would say that the first season would just focus on the new generation training and proving themselves ready to become SG1 and the season finale ending with them becoming SG1 but with an older soldier as their commander and chaperone. However, the commander would be temporary as one of them becomes the de facto leader.
