Quarantine With Me
There is a crisis going on,
So I have written you this poem,
On why you should not be alone,
So why not quarantine with me?
Because you should not be alone,
Due to a virus from Wuhan,
You are alone so please come on,
And quarantine yourself with me.
We could sing lots of silly songs,
Discuss the meanings, rights and wrongs,
While those around drone on and on,
So why not quarantine with me?
If that will make you bored and ill,
We could just then Netflix and chill,
Ignore the news and siren shrill,
So why not quarantine with me?
You will forget the politics,
Tune out all of their gimmicks,
Removed from the political cliques,
So why not quarantine with me?
Social distance is now a thing,
Protecting weak and elderly,
But take the chance of infection,
If you should quarantine with me.
Whaddya say let’s take the risk,
And come together during this,
Care for each other if we get sick,
So why not quarantine with me?
Author’s Note: With all the talk of quarantine, a couple lines just popped into my head and I decided to just see where it went. I’m thinking of doing a series of poems and short stories inspired by the coronavirus. When it comes to writing poetry, I am obviously no expert. But it is a nice change of pace from what I regularly write, and it is always a good idea to change the pace and challenge yourself.
