Immortal Darkness: Curse of the Pale King Developer Announces New Version Is Free to Download and Play

There is nothing more fun than getting good deals during the holiday seasons. And what is a better deal than getting something for free? That seems to be what developer Giant Space Monster is thinking as they have announced that a new version of their game Immortal Darkness: Curse of the Pale King is now available for free on the PC platform.

The new version of this epic, dark, and atmospheric dungeon crawler has been released as freeware, according to the message on the game’s official website:

“Wait, what’s the catch?

No catch*.

The Giant Space Monster (All Hail The Giant Space Monster), has proclaimed that more mortals should play our game, and so we’re giving our game away, free to play. No spyware, no crypto miners, no malware, no data gathering or snooping, and no in-app purchases or paywalls! Just install anywhere and play (PC ONLY).”

Originally released back in 2018, Immortal Darkness: Curse of the Pale King puts players in the role of Shade, an old and legendary vampire hunter who must attempt to resist the curse of vampirism after being bitten. Players will have to traverse through dungeons filled with dangerous enemies, traps, and puzzles in this real-time tactical combat game while also balancing the need to drink blood as you try to survive in order to face the Pale King who is the lord of all vampires.

Immortal Darkness: Curse of the Pale King can be downloaded for free on the official website. Gamers who already purchased the game on Steam will still be able to download the new version which will be compatible with their saved games (the game is no longer available on Steam).

The announcement is bittersweet as, earlier this month, Giant Space Monster stated that it was no more. However, Steam users who purchased the game before it was retired on Steam will have access to it. In addition, the new freeware version features several new improvements, bug fixes, and doesn’t require Steam or any Steam services to play the game.

Those who download the game for free also have the opportunity of donating to the developer in appreciation of the holiday gift.
