So for this list, we decided to exclude princesses because let’s be real – when was the last time you saw a princess in a video game choose to be with a peasant? If Princess Peach was really into Mario, don’t you think they would have made it official by now? And if Princess Zelda was really into Link, we’re pretty sure she wouldn’t have kept him waiting for so long. But alas, it seems that women of royalty just don’t go for the common folk, so we had to leave these regal ladies off our list. Don’t worry, though – there are plenty of other amazing female characters, who are single, out there that are just as deserving of your New Year’s Eve celebration.

2B, also known as YoRHa No.2 Type B, is a character from the action role-playing game Nier: Automata. She is a combat android designed to fight on behalf of humanity in a war against alien machines. 2B is known for her skilled combat abilities, as well as her calm and collected personality. And while she may be an android she is also capable of displaying a range of emotions.
As a New Year’s Eve date, 2B would be an interesting choice because of her combat skills and ability to handle any situation that may arise. So you know she would be handy in a fight. More importantly, she is an attractive and stylish woman wearing a form-fitting bodysuit who will definitely stand out at a New Year’s Eve party – especially since she also wears a blindfold. Plus, her calm and collected demeanor would be a welcome contrast to the sometimes hectic nature of New Year’s Eve celebrations. Overall, 2B would make for a unique and exciting choice as a New Year’s Eve date.
Ada Wong (Resident Evil franchise)
Ada Wong became an immediate fan favorite when she made her debut in Resident Evil 2 back in 1998. Alyx Vance (Half-Life franchise)
Alyx Vance is a character from the Half-Life franchise who made her debut in Half-Life 2 back in 2004. She is known for her strong and fleshed-out personality and competence as an assistant, fighter, and helper. Alyx is a key character in the Half-Life series and plays a crucial role in the story of the games. When it comes to AI companions in video games, if you were to make a list of the best ones, Alyx Vance would be on it everytime (*makes a note to write up that list).
Not only is she a great AI companion, but she is portrayed as a fantastic partner that men would love to meet in real life. She is attractive, charming, capable, and an invaluable asset to the player. She is capable of doing things on her own, but she also doesn’t balk at looking to the Freeman for advice or follow his lead. These attributes means that Alyx is not your typical video game love interest. In fact, she is one of the most well-rounded female characters in video games (and she is single).
All of these factors, in addition to her ethnic looks that combine African and Asian ancestry into a slender and athletic build, means that she is going to turn heads while her awesome personality means that she will break a ton of hearts. For she only seems to have eyes for the Freeman. Though, if Gordon doesn’t speak up soon when Half-Life 3 eventually comes out (I still believe!), she might just find someone else. Maybe at a New Year’s Eve party?
Suffice to say, Alyx Vance would make a fantastic date for New Year’s Eve.
Chun-Li (Street Fighter franchise)
In 1991 Street Fighter debuted and included the first playable female fighter named Chun-Li. Known for her lightning fast kicks and Chinese-style outfit that is a blue qipao with golden accents, she was an immediate favorite for gamers. Chun-Li is a key character in the Street Fighter series and has become one of the most recognizable and popular characters in video games and dubbed the First Lady of fighting games.
You aren’t going to hesitate to take Ms Li out to a New Year’s Eve party. She is beautiful and dangerous but she is also an Interpol agent. So be prepared to have her run a background check on you. Oh, and she has an adopted daughter named Li Fen who can kick butt, too. So make sure Chun-Li has a great time with you or you might end up in the hospital with some broken bones on New Year’s Eve.
Cortana (Halo franchise)
There is no such thing as a truly platonic friendship when it comes to a man and a woman. Unless that woman happens to be an artificial intelligence that doesn’t have a body. Then you can say that it is an involuntary platonic friendship.
At least, that is how men will look at it when it comes to Cortana, Master Chief’s AI companion, who debuted in the first Halo game back in 2001. But her witty and playful personality coupled with her cryptic humor and tinge of sarcasm was an instant hit with gamers and made her a fan favorite. It also helps that, while she doesn’t have a physical form, her projected form tends to be attractive with its blue and slender physique (Men seem to love the blue-skinned girls).
She also demonstrated a fierce sense of loyalty to Master Chief which is another reason why men find her attractive. Sadly, she has been through some rough times, to put it mildly. But there is no doubt that she would be an interesting date at a New Year’s Eve party. Whether as a disembodied voice talking to you through a phone or projection, or an android body of some kind, both of you will turn heads.
However, just be careful not to get on her bad side. She might just lock you up in a Cryptum to make you think about the error of your ways…
But, if she is making jokes and eventually says, “Bet you can’t stick it.” Then she might be stuck on you!
D.Va (Overwatch)
D.Va is a character from the multiplayer FPS game Overwatch which was released in 2016. She is a skilled mech pilot and a member of the South Korean national team who uses her powerful, armored mech to defend her homeland from threats.

She will embarrass you when it comes to video games since she is a professional esports player who primarily played Starcraft II. D.Va also doesn’t like to lose. Whether in a video game or on the field of battle, she is in it to win it. With a carefree and irreverent attitude, she has no problem with throwing around some smack talk.
And she has a mech!
Who wouldn’t want to be with D’Va on New Year’s Eve? Unless you are afraid that she will show you up by beating you in a video game or talking smack to you. And if you can’t handle her enthusiastic and energetic nature she might just ask you, “Too spicy for you?” and walk away.

Lara Croft (Tomb Raider franchise)
Lara Croft became a legend, an icon, and helped forge a broader path for female video game characters when Tomb Raider released in 1996 for MS-DOS (do you know what this is?), the PlayStation, and Sega Saturn. Her physical attributes and attire immediately drew the eyes making her a sex symbol while this dual-pistol-wielding archaeologist’s smart, classy, and kind personality helped cement her status as a beloved character.

Rayne (Bloodrayne franchise)
This red-headed dhampir immediately turned heads when she came onto the scene back in 2002 with the first BloodRayne. As a half-human, half-vampire hybrid who possesses supernatural powers and abilities, Rayne is known for her combat skills and her ability to hunt and kill vampires.
“Lethal erotica” is a phrase that was used to describe her for her sexually appealing visage of emerald-green eyes, red hair, and pale skin in addition to form-fitting black leather clothes and silver steel stiletto heels while brandishing those arm blades of hers. But she isn’t just pleasing to the eyes. She is a headstrong, bold, snarky at times, and seductive, with a hint of sadism, woman who takes her job seriously when it comes to hunting vampires.
But how would Rayne stack up as a New Year’s Eve date?
Well, there would certainly be a hint of danger being around her at all times since, you know, she might drink your blood if she is hungry and you are annoying. Which would then cause her to go into a Blood Rage and cause all kinds of mayhem. And it would be all your fault! That is, if you have the balls to ask her out. But don’t even bother if you are a vampire. She’ll stake you faster than you eating that cupcake while reading this editorial (drop and give me 10 pushups right now!).
Still, who wouldn’t want to take Rayne to a New Year’s Eve party? The danger, the excitement, the beauty, and the probability of violence? Sounds like a fun time all around!
Tifa Lockhart (Final Fantasy)
Tifa Lockhart is a character from the popular Final Fantasy franchise who made her debut in the 1997 game Final Fantasy VII. As a skilled martial artist and member of the eco-terrorist group AVALANCHE, she is known for her fierce loyalty and determination.
In the games, Tifa is a great companion to have due to her skilled combat abilities and her strong and independent personality. She is able to handle any situation that may arise and is a reliable and trustworthy ally. Tifa also has a kind and compassionate personality.

Big shoutout to @techie_ta over on Twitter who responded to my tweet asking who you would want to celebrate New Year’s Eve with and his response was, “I pick Yennefer, seems like someone that is up for a good time and can keep you on your toes.”
Yennefer is a character from the popular The Witcher franchise, which is based on the books by Andrzej Sapkowski. She is a powerful sorceress who is known for her intelligence, resourcefulness, and magical abilities who, in the video games, is also calm, collected, and in control of her emotions. She even has a sense of humor, if a little sarcastic. Meanwhile the tv series from Netflix offers a different version that is not just skin deep but different when it comes to personality. In the show she is far more emotional than the game version and gets angry often, is regularly sad, and is vulnerable at times.
While both versions are physically attractive in their own, individual ways, the personality is what sets them apart. So it will come as no surprise if the majority of men will prefer the video game version over the TV version.
But whichever version you prefer, the outcome will remain the same no matter what. While Yennefer would be an entertaining experience at a New Year’s Eve party, not just because of her wit and humor that would carry any conversation, its her spellcasting abilities which would make the party special and magical.
