Indie publisher Firesquid Games has announced that Blade Prince Academy, developed by Angel Corp, is set to bring its anime-inspired tactical RPG experience to Steam later this year. Players will take on the role of a Blade Prince, a highly-trained magical combatant tasked with protecting the city of Abjectalia from various threats.
The game’s combat system will allow players to freeze time during combat, in order to meticulously plan their moves, allowing them to deal devastating blows through powerful combos. The order and timing of each attack made can be manipulated to create the perfect combo among the units being controlled.
Between missions, players will return to the Academy where they will be able to recruit a roster of unique characters with their own abilities and backstories to form a complementary squad. The social relationships formed between these characters will improve as they go on missions together which can lead to bonuses during battle.
Blade Prince Academy features a talent tree that allows players to manage upgrades and unlock skills that give access to more powerful spells. Players can also make a pact with darkness, performing powerful rituals that change the abilities and skills of a character.
The game also includes challenging boss fights where players must protect Abjectalia from hordes of gangsters, cultists, rebels, and traffickers. Complete mastery of the combat system will be required to overcome these threats.
Blade Prince Academy will launch on Steam later this year, and a Kickstarter campaign will start on May 11th to fund and create community-related content in the game.
Players who are interested in Blade Prince Academy can wishlist the game on Steam to receive the latest updates from the developers. No further information has been provided on whether or not the game will release on other platforms or.
