Gameplay Trailer Released for Colony Sim Ascent of Ashes Due Out Q4 2023

Developer Vivid Storm Interactive and publisher Camlann Games have unveiled a gameplay trailer for their upcoming colony simulation game Ascent of Ashes. With a release date set for the end of 2023, this collaboration between the original creators of RimWorld’s Combat Extended mod looks to revolutionize the genre by blending elements of colony sims, base builders, and strategy survival games.

Ascent of Ashes, which appears to draw inspiration from games such as Dwarf Fortress, Rimworld, and Project Zomboid, puts players into a dystopian world where the remnants of humanity struggle to establish a new home in a hostile and alien environment where the land is ravaged by perpetual warfare between the inhabitants. Players will have to master the game’s real-time-with-pause combat mechanics in order to survive along with the game’s detailed hit simulation and health system adding a layer of strategic depth that will try to rival the difficulty and challenge of games such as X-COM and Jagged Alliance.

Amidst all of the chaos and danger, players will have to focus on building a new place for the remaining survivors. Each individual survivor will possess unique personalities and motivations, offering players the task of deciding who to bring along on missions. With the group of chosen survivors, players will be able to explore diverse biomes and points of interest, utilizing restored vehicles to traverse a post-apocalyptic land and acquire vital resources necessary to grow their civilization.

Ascent of Ashes is expected to be released Q4 2023 on Steam which players can add to their Wishlist right now.
