PS5 Announcement Trailer Drops for Dark Life: Excalibur, a Dark Souls-like Game Rewriting the Origin of King Arthur’s Excalibur

Zero Studios has released a new announcement trailer for Dark Life: Excalibur; a third-person action game set in a dark fantasy world and set to launch on both the PS5 and Steam platforms. Drawing inspiration from Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Dark Souls series, Zero Studios aims to deliver a unique and challenging gaming experience with European foundational elements.

Dark Life: Excalibur puts players in control of Aron, a human who is determined to confront York, the king of giants who destroyed Aron’s world. The game re-writes the origin story of the legendary sword Excalibur. Instead of being forged by an Elf from Avalon, this Excalibur has been forged by Aron as an aid in his battle against terrifying enemies.

To utilize Excalibur, Aron must harness the power of Beastliness which was the primary material for the sword’s creation as players collect fragments of this essence via the slaying of creatures. Once collected, players will use the fragments of bestiality to customize and upgrade their sword to further enhance Aron’s combat abilities. Other items, such as runes for lightning and fire can also be utilized to enhance Excalibur.

In addition, each piece of Excalibur will be customizable. Players will be able to customize the pommel, cape, guard, blade, and the six types of runs on the sword in order to create a build that will help defeat different enemies and bosses.

Dark Life: Excalibur will have players exploring a world divided into zones filled with enemies, mini-bosses, and bosses.

Players can add Dark Life: Excalibur to their wishlists on Steam and PlayStation 5 though no specific date has been provided for the game’s release.
