List Of Banned Talking Points Sent To Content Creators Wishing To Acquire Black Myth: Wukong CD Keys; Includes China, Covid-19, And Feminist Propaganda

A leaked document has been shared online that has allegedly been sent to content creators wishing to stream and create content for Black Myth: Wukong that provides a list of restricted topics.

The email was sent by Hero Games, a marketing partner of developer Game Science, to content creators which included the document with restrictions of what they can or cannot do while streaming or making content. The notice states, “By using the game key and creating content, you acknowledge that you have been informed of the following content, and your statements are not related to the marketing team.“

Followed by a list of Do’s and Don’ts:

Do’s & Don’ts

DO’S

  • Enjoy the game!

DON’TS

  • Do NOT insult other influencers or players.

  • Do NOT use any offensive language/humor.

  • Do NOT include politics, violence, nudity, feminist propaganda, fetishization, and other content that instigates negative discourse.

  • Do NOT use trigger words such as ‘quarantine’ or ‘isolation’ or ‘COVID-19’.

  • Do NOT discuss content related to China’s game industry policies, opinions, news, etc.

The authenticity of the leaked document was initially questioned by many users but has been substantiated as true by Forbes, Medium, TheGamer, and several content creators who claimed to have received both the email and document. Allegedly, the email was not sent to journalists and appears to only have been sent to content creators.

Restriction of talking points from Chinese developer Game Science shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. The CCP took great steps during the Covid pandemic to push back against reports and accusations over the origin of the coronavirus which included banning games such as Plague Inc simply because China was one of the countries which could be chosen as an origin point. China’s influence in the gaming industry also led to Activision Blizzard censoring American citizens who showed support for the #FreeHongKong movement. What is interesting is that the list includes China’s video game industry policies, which is highly criticized and why we recommend gamers boycott Black Myth: Wukong

Black Myth: Wukong has been in the middle of controversy between video game journalists calling Game Science developers misogynists and DEI-opposed content creators holding the game up as an example of a DEI-free title.
