Knightly Musings: Can’t Believe A Project Zomboid-Like, First-Person Game Is Being Developed And I Didn’t Know

If you are a fan of zombie games, but have never played Project Zomboid, then you have been missing out. It is one of my top recommendations when it comes to zombie games, and must-play game for Halloween, for its difficulty and ambience, not to mention the sheer amount of things you can do when it comes to looting, crafting, and building. However, while I have enjoyed the game with its top-down perspective, I always wanted to play it in first-person. So imagine my surprise that someone has been making a Project Zomboid-like game, called Vein, which is in first person.

Vein, a post-apocalyptic survival game, really does look like a FPS version of Project Zomboid with everything being lootable and can be broken down as you explore abandoned with a crafting system and zombies, though nowhere near as many that you would encounter in Zomboid. And I’m curious to see if the developers behind Vein, Ramjet Studios, will be able to recreate the atmosphere and overwhelming odds that Zomboid provides.

Taking a glance at the planned features for this game by the two-man dev team, Vein sounds like it will have quite a bit to it such as dynamic environments, AI, simulated grids, and multiplayer. Multiplayer will definitely be interesting as players will be able to either work together or raid each other. Given how people are, there is going to be a lot of looting and shooting and, considering how I like to play, I’ll probably solo and see how long I can survive.

Of course, I’m late to the party, since Vein has been in development for the past two years and the developers continue to put out updates on a monthly basis judging by their YouTube channel. So I’m looking forward to playing Vein. Especially since there is a free demo out on Steam

If I can get it to work.

Unfortunately, I can’t get the game to play on my PC right now. Why it won’t play could be the fact that I built my gaming PC 14 years ago or there are just drivers that need to be updated. I’m just going to have to figure it out.

But I definitely have hope for this game.
