Dragon Age: The Veilguard Sees 31% Drop in Steam Player Numbers for Second Weekend Since Launch, Trade-in Value Plummets to $22

It’s been an underwhelming start for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. During its opening weekend, BioWare’s latest game failed to reach 100,000 concurrent players on Steam peaking at 89,418. From there, the player count dropped 44% throughout its first week after release. While Steam player numbers increased over its second weekend, BioWare’s Dragon Age: The Veilguard failed to match its opening weekend numbers on the second weekend, experiencing a peak of 61,063 players – a 31% drop from weekend-to-weekend.

If that wasn’t enough, the GameStop trade-in value for Dragon Age: The Veilguard has plummeted to $22. A bad indication for a game that hasn’t been out for two weeks, which makes this another cause for concern as both BioWare and EA continue to stay silent about the sales numbers for Veilguard.

Speculation that Veilguard has been another failure for BioWare continues to be more likely in light of the ever-dwindling number of Steam players, return rates, no plans for DLC, and allegedly poor sales. Factors which have probably resulted in Veilguard’s low trade-in value. For context, the Silent Hill 2 remake was released over a month ago and has a trade-in value of $33 and sold 1 million copies in less than a week. As for how many copies Dragon Age: The Veilguard may have sold is, according to an anonymous source speaking to YouTuber EndymionYT, around 500,000 copies.
