Gamers eager for a new twist on the city-building genre can now dive into the demo of Stormbridge, a unique roguelite game where players construct bridge settlements while racing against ever-looming weather calamities.
Created by indie dev YYZ Studio, players will have to manage resources efficiently, guiding settlers to operate various buildings crucial for survival. Settlers can take on roles such as farmers, scientists, or engineers, enhancing the functionality and resilience of the settlement.
Stormbridge’s gameplay revolves around outrunning a menacing storm, which manifests in various forms like blizzards and fiery tornadoes, by continually building a bridge where people can live. The goal is to survive these natural disasters and find ways to neutralize them. If that isn’t daunting enough, you will also have 10 days to accomplish all of this.
However, not all is doom and gloom as players can explore a lighter side of the game by collecting pets, which range from whimsical unicorns to a menagerie of mammals. Each pet provides unique buffs which can help the settlement. Players will also be able to earn cosmetic items for hair and accessories and traits to provide a head start for additional runs.
As players navigate their way through Stormbridge, they will encounter different biomes which will contain clues to the storm’s mysterious origin.
For those interested, the Stormbridge demo is now available on Steam.
Stormbridge is expected to enter Early Access soon, though no release date has been provided or what the retail price will be.
