Those looking for an RPG with a darker theme to it don’t need to look any further as The Silent Kingdom, an otome RPG with a dark narrative which just launched into Early Access on Steam today.
Developed by Lucky Cat, The Silent Kingdom invites players into a story where every choice matters. The game centers around Princess Erinys who is compelled to embark on a journey, after her kingdom fell victim to a curse, that might require her to sacrifice her own soul to save the realm.
Players will have to navigate through a narrative filled with moral dilemmas where decisions not only affect the storyline, but also shape the character of Erinys herself. Will she become a beloved ruler or a figure of dread? Will alliances be formed or betrayals enacted? These are questions players will have to figure out for themselves as they guide Erinys through a world of fantasy and dark intrigue.
The Silent Kingdom blends elements of traditional JRPGs with otome game mechanics, offering turn-based combat, exploration, and deep character interactions. The game’s art style, featuring anime-inspired visuals, complements its emotional and dramatic storytelling, which explores themes of power, loyalty, and sacrifice.
The Early Access version includes the first chapter, taking players to the kingdom of Fortuna, with promises of more content to come. The solo developer has expressed plans for further chapters, aiming to fully realize the story’s conclusion, based on player feedback and additional development.
The Silent Kingdom is now available on Steam Early Access for $17.99 (currently on sale for $16.19 until February 25). There is also a demo which features the game’s Prologue.
