Swashbuckling Adventure Captain Blood Finally Sails Into Steam After Two Decades

After a tumultuous journey spanning over 20 years, the pirate-themed action game Captain Blood has officially launched on Steam, proving that you can’t keep a good pirate down as the game brings back its long-lost hack-and-slash glory to modern gamers. Developed by Seawolf Studio and General Arcade, this 17th-century Caribbean title is finally available for those yearning for an excuse to fly the Jolly Roger and sail the seven seas.

Set on the Spanish Main Captain Blood, not to be confused with the movie of the same name that starred Errol Flynn, casts players as a fearsome pirate chasing gold, glory, and epic shenanigans. The game delivers a  huge dose of early 2000s nostalgia with its high-octane hack-and-slash experience, cannon-firing ship battles, swashbuckling sword fights, and flashy combat combos with quicktime events to really bring back those days. Watch as gold doubloons spill forth from your vanquished foes as you set about gathering as much gold as you can get.

To help strike fear in the hearts of sailors everywhere, players will be able to wield an arsenal of cutlasses, pistols, muskets, throwing knives, and hand bombs while upgrading skills and weapons to become the most dreaded buccaneer on the high seas. The game’s vibrant, comic-book-inspired visuals and humorous tone add a playful edge to the violent, action-packed gameplay.

Captain Blood also comes with a mature content warning for frequent violence, gore, and some nudity or sexual content, making it unsuitable for all audiences. Players will also need to agree to a third party EULA

Captain Blood is now available on Steam for $24.99 (currently on sale for $22.49 until May 13th).
